Hello Friends—
How are you? When I look at the videos (below) I do wonder about my hairstyle choices. Well… c’est la guerre 💋!
How is your hair? I’ve basically had the same hairstyle for almost fifty years. It drifts in and out of Farrah Fawcett worship phases. But anyway, what about you? How is your hair situation?
I’m still preparing for my upcoming class on writing the essay, a process that has begun to feel like a long-form inquiry into the nature of the essay itself. The course includes ten hours of class time (live or asynchronous), four asynchronous lectures, and an individual editorial/support/feedback session with me. As I continue shaping the material, I find myself increasingly fascinated by the underlying structure of the course and the way its various threads are beginning to speak to one another. There’s something both intellectually rigorous and sort of uncanny about the form the class is taking as it unfolds. Loving it 💘
As part of this preparation, I’ve also been revisiting the Four Queens vault, particularly material on writing through the intelligence of tarot. I keep thinking, as fucking ever, about what (beloved) Stephen D. Moore once said regarding not bringing an analytical jackhammer to a parabolic event, but instead answering mystery in an idiom of mystery. That idea feels deeply connected to both writing and divination. The oracular offers another way of approaching the page/altar: through the nonlinear logic of revelation ✨🦢. I hope you enjoy the talks below, should they resonate. They were part of a series I offered for a writing community circle two years ago.
🖤 Selah
